Self-image and feeling great

We’re kicking off this wellbeing journey with a simple but powerful theme: self-care. It’s the starting point for everything else. Before we dive into stress, sleep or balance, we’re pressing pause to ask one question: how are you really doing?

Why this matters

Life moves fast. Tech evolves. Notifications keep pinging. And the line between work and personal time? Blurry, at best.

On top of work, there’s family, friends, caregiving, appointments. Your day fills up before you’ve had time to check in with yourself. We’re on from morning till night, without pause.

That’s why self-care isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
It builds resilience, fuels motivation and helps you stay healthy. In mind and in body. Yet it’s often the first thing we drop when things get busy. That’s exactly when we need it most.

The American Psychological Association confirms: regular habits like movement, sleep and social connection lower cortisol levels and improve cognitive function (APA, 2021).

A great place to grow

At Bluu, but also at our BluuCrew growth isn’t just about learning new tech or stepping up your role. It’s also about having space to take care of yourself. This summer, we’re doubling down on that value. Not with big words, but with small, practical things that actually help.

What we’re doing

Across De Cronos Groep and our cluster, there are already many initiatives around well-being. Some visible, others quietly in the background. With this campaign, we’re bundling useful insights, tips and tools that already exist. You can tap into them whenever you need.

In the coming weeks, we’ll explore topics like stress, sleep, nutrition, self-image, burnout, balance and physical health. We’ll wrap up with reflection and recharge. Small steps. Real shift.

Did you know, Nathalie is part of a working group on wellbeing.

Two key concepts to keep in mind

As we move through the campaign, you’ll see these two ideas come back often:

Resilience
This is your ability to adapt to change and bounce back from setbacks. It helps you stay focused and come out stronger after challenging moments.

Stress
Stress is your body’s automatic response to perceived threats or challenges. When your brain senses danger, your nervous system switches into stress mode. That’s the fight, flight, or freeze response. (We’ll unpack this more in the coming weeks.)

What is self-care, really?

Self-care means choosing to take care of your energy. Mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s about setting boundaries, asking for help, knowing what you need and doing it without guilt.

You can’t control everything life throws at you. But you can build resilience. The more resilient you are, the better you’ll handle stress.

The benefits of self-care?

More resillience, less stress

Self-care strengthens your mental buffer. It lowers stress, anxiety and burnout risk.

Better physical health

According to the WHO, self-care helps prevent illness and boosts recovery. Regular movement and good sleep can even increase your life expectancy.

Emotional balance

Taking time for yourself reminds you that your needs matter. That’s the foundation of long-term wellbeing.

Stronger relationships

When your own battery is charged, you’ve got more to give to others. Self-care helps you avoid running on empty.

Time to dive in

During this campaign we’ll often refer to ‘BloomUp Learn‘. BloomUp Learn is an online platform focused on mental wellbeing. It’s available for free to everyone at Bluu. You’ll find short e-learning modules on topics like stress, burnout, sleep, emotional health and more.

How to get started

  1. Go to www.mindlab.be/nl/register
  2. Create your personal profile (best done via Google Chrome)
  3. Log in and enter the code CronosMind
  4. Start exploring your wellbeing Toolbox

Want to go deeper?

These two modules are a great place to start:
🔹 Self-image
🔹 Feeling great

Did you know?

  1. There’s a difference between “filling” activities and “nourishing” ones. Choose what really recharges you.
  2. Self-care isn’t just about doing fun things. It’s about resting when you need it and choosing wisely.
  3. The way you talk to yourself matters. Your inner critic drains energy. Be kind inside your head.
  4. Writing things down at night can help quiet your mind.
  5. Swapping harsh words for softer ones helps keep your mood in check.
  6. Progressive muscle relaxation helps your body release built-up tension.
  7. Scheduling downtime isn’t lazy. It’s essential.
  8. A mini break, like a deep breath or a quick stretch, can be a real stress shield.
